Stunning harmonies, timeless songs, and masterful musicianship are showcased on the latest release from the Collingsworth Family. Worship From Home is truly a gift in these trying times with social unrest and the global pandemic. This powerful recording comes from an at home concert (live streamed to benefit Samaritan's Purse) the group held two weeks following the outset of Covid19. This stellar record reminds us that the things that truly matter still remain.
This powerful album opens with a moving rendition of “Jesus We Crown You With Praise” ushering in the listener to a time of worship. This is followed by the jazzy “Nothing’s Worrying Me,” and the hopeful “I Just Feel Like Something Good Is About To Happen.” Both of these songs (and this album in general) remind listeners that God has everything under control. Speaking of which, Brooklyn Collingsworth Blair’s young daughter Emma sings the classic “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands,” which is truly precious. The family’s tight, intricate harmonies are on full display on the classic “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” which is a highlight of the project for me. Another highlight is Phil Sr.’s powerful rendition of “It Is Well With My Soul.” Next, they bring back one of their own classics in “Fear Not Tomorrow” which is a particularly moving reminder that God works all things for good. Fear not tomorrow for God is already there! I was blown away by the seamless and powerful transition into “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.” Next, the group covers the classic “Bigger Than Any Mountain” which is a fun, upbeat tune that simply says God is bigger than any problem you may face. Olivia Collingsworth is featured on the timely “It Matters To The Master,” which powerfully reminds us that God is faithful and cares about you always. Next, the group covers the Andre Crouch classic “Through It All” which once again features truly stellar harmonies. Phil Jr then takes the lead on the Southern Gospel classic “The Unclouded Day” which is another fun, upbeat tune. “Joy Is Not Cancelled” written by Kim Collingsworth, proclaims that nothing can take away our joy in Christ. While the pandemic may have cancelled plans, these troubled times cannot cancel Christ’s faithfulness. This incredible album closes with fantastic renditions of “Show A Little Love And Kindness,” and “May The Lord Bless And Keep You.”
