THOUGHTS:
The Kingdom Heirs are back with yet another stellar recording. This beloved group puts their stamp on more Southern Gospel classics in this third installment of their series Something Good. Now entering into their fortieth year at Dollywood, this album features the talented vocal lineup of : Loren Harris (Lead), Andy Stringfield (Baritone), Jeff Chapman (Bass), and Jacob Ellison (Tenor). This is the first album since the departure of longtime lead singer Arthur Rice. This is also the final album to feature twenty-one year veteran bass singer Jeff Chapman and two year tenor Jacob Ellison as they both moved onto other opportunities following the release. Chapman’s beloved bass voice is heard all over this recording most notably on the standard “When He Reached Down His Hand For Me,” and the Dottie Rambo classic “I’ve Never Been This Homesick Before.” Jacob Ellison shines on the tenor classic first introduced by the Kingsmen in 1973 “Glory Road” as well as the groovy “I’m Forgiven” and the popular “Moving Up To Gloryland.” Andy Stringfield pulls double duty playing piano and singing baritone. He delivers some incredible vocals on the Kingsmen classic “The Cross Has Won Again,” the Happy Goodman tune “That Sounds Like Home To Me,” and the Doris Akers penned classic “Lead Me, Guide Me.” Loren Harris shines on “I’m Forgiven,” and “That Sound Like Home To Me.” He also takes the lead on the classics “Royal Descendant” and “He Will Hide Me,” both of which he performed with the Perrys. “Come On In” and “I Know What Lies Ahead” round out the list of incredible songs on this stellar album.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
SOMETHING GOOD VOLUME 3 IS NOT JUST GOOD, IT’S INCREDIBLE! THE KINGDOM HEIRS DELIVER ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF THE YEAR SO FAR IN MY HUMBLE OPINION WITH THIS PROJECT. STELLAR VOCALS, TIMELESS CLASSICS, AND TOP NOTCH MUSICIANSHIP. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: “WHEN HE REACHED DOWN HIS HAND FOR ME,” “MOVING UP TO GLORYLAND,” “THAT SOUNDS LIKE HOME TO ME,” “ROYAL DESCENDANT,” AND “I’VE NEVER BEEN THIS HOMESICK BEFORE.”
I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT TO THANK BOTH JEFF CHAPMAN AND JACOB ELLISON FOR THEIR TIME WITH THIS GROUP. I WISH THEM BOTH WELL IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING JEFF WITH GOLD CITY SOON! I ALSO LOOK FORWARD TO WHAT GOD HAS IN STORE FOR THIS INCREDIBLE GROUP AS JOSH HORRELL AND BRAD SMITH HAVE JOINED.
5 OUT OF 5 STARS! FOR MORE INFORMATION: www.kingdomheirs.com
