THOUGHTS:

There is nothing like classic four part harmony paired with timeless songs. Evidence Quartet deliver with their latest recording entitled Classics And Favorites, which features eleven beloved songs of faith.

The album opens with a rousing rendition of the quartet classic “Your First Day In Heaven” which features each member in stellar fashion. Brenda Coogan’s crystal clear alto is featured on the tenor standard “Glory Road” while her husband Gordon shines on the Dottie Rambo classic “He Looked Beyond My Fault.” Bass singer Gil Ramirez and baritone Bob Hughes take the lead on one of my all time favorite Gaither songs “Sinner Saved By Grace.” The group does the song justice with their tight harmonies. Ramirez shines once again on the bass singer standard “Just A Little Talk With Jesus,” which uses the same track as the Brian Free & Assurance version. Bob Hughes takes the lead on the beautiful hymn “He Hideth My Soul.” His smooth baritone fits the song perfectly. The group’s stellar harmonies take center stage on the catchy tune “When We Sing Around The Throne Eternal,” which also features some impressive low bass from Gil Ramirez. Gordon Coogan takes the lead on the Squire Parsons penned “The Lovely Name Of Jesus,” which praises Christ for His many blessings. Brenda delivers a stellar performance on the beautiful “The Eyes Of Jesus,” which reminds us that Christ is always watching over us. Gil Ramirez’s smooth bass voice is featured once again on the Hinson classic “Mercy Built A Bridge,” which is another personal favorite. This top notch album closes with the uptempo groove “It’s Gonna Be A Good Day,” which reminds us that with Christ, there is no problem too big to tackle.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

EVIDENCE HAS DELIVERED YET ANOTHER FANTASTIC RECORD! STELLAR VOCALS, TOP NOTCH MUSICIANSHIP, AND INCREDIBLE SONGS! MY ONLY CRITICISM IS THE USE OF OLD TRACKS, BUT THIS DOES NOT TAKE AWAY FROM MY ENJOYMENT OF THE ALBUM. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: “MERCY BUILT A BRIDGE,” “JUST A LITTLE TALK WITH JESUS,” “HE LOOKED BEYOND MY FAULT,” AND “SINNER SAVED BY GRACE.”

4.5 OUT OF 5 STARS!
