THOUGHTS:
Christmas music and the Gaither Vocal Band is a perfect match. The GVB is back with the heartwarming All Heaven And Nature Sing, a new Christmas album that is another fantastic addition to their discography. Featuring eleven songs, this album is a great mix of new and well known Christmas songs done in classic GVB style.
This stellar recording opens with the energetic “And The Song Goes On,”
Bill Gaither and Todd Suttles share the lead on the classic “Silver Bells,” which warms the heart. This song put me right in the Christmas spirit with Gaither’s warm, inviting vocal. Suttles then moves to bass on the fun “Hallelujah, O Happy Day,” which praises Christ and celebrates His Birth. Adam Crabb brings his signature soulful tones to his father’s “Rest In You Tonight.” The group then delivers a simply beautiful version of “Away In A Manger” featuring the high trio harmonies of Crabb, Hampton, and Smith with Todd Suttles (at bass) taking the second verse. The GVB puts their spin on “Look Who Just Checked In,” a fun groove previously recorded by Gold City. Reggie Smith takes the lead on the beautiful ballad “The Manger And The Cross,” which walks listeners through the earthly life of Christ. “Glory In The Highest” is a well crafted hymn-like song written by Gloria Gaither in 1983. The quintet’s signature harmonies are on full display on the classic “White Christmas.” Wes Hampton shines on his solo parts on this Christmas standard. “Love Is The Reason Why” a fun groovy tune that reminds us that His Love is the reason for it all. “The King Of Kings” is a Gaither classic that builds to a signature big finish.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
THE GVB HAS DONE IT YET AGAIN! GREAT SONGS, MUSICIANSHIP, INCREDIBLE VOCALS, AND CLASSIC HARMONIES.
ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF THE YEAR!
