THOUGHTS:
The Gaither Homecoming Crew kicks off 2020 with yet another wonderful video featuring timeless songs of hope and faith. The Longer I Serve Him, recorded live at Gaither Studios, brings together some of the most beloved artists in Gospel Music including the Hoppers, The Oak Ridge Boys, Greater Vision, Michael English, and more as they share laughs, stories, and songs! Based on my observations, this video, while meant as its own release, is clearly born from the same gathering that produced Give The World A Smile and Sweeter As The Days Go By which both released in 2017.
I personally loved the blend of the old and new on these videos. Gaither successfully recaptured the magic of the original videos featuring legendary artists including Vestal Goodman and Jake Hess. Not only does his video honor the past, it also includes some of Southern Gospel's finest new artists including the Martin Family Circus. Each featured artist gave great performances with several standing out.
The Hoppers kick off the video with a rousing rendition of their latest hit “Life Is Good.” I also particularly enjoyed the Kim Hopper, Michael English, and Mark Lowry’s version of the classic “What A Lovely Name.” Hopper does an incredible job honoring the late Vestal Goodman on her standouts. In addition, Duane Allen joining his daughter’s family The Martin Family Circus to sing “I Know” was a joy to watch!
Overall, this video takes fans back to the place where it all began over 20 years ago. It captures the magic of the early videos while showcasing the fresh, and exciting new artists of today. Memorable performances, moving testimonials, and timeless songs.
