THOUGHTS:
In this milestone recording, The Old Paths selected some of their most popular songs and re-recorded them with tenor Steve Ladd, who joined over two years ago. Instead of simply adding Ladd’s vocals, the group opted to give each song a fresh recording in every aspect. Each member gets their time to shine on this record. Steve Ladd’s soaring tenor is featured on the incredible ballads “I Of The Storm, “ and “ He’s My Song.” Bass singer Daniel Ashmore takes the lead on the classic “I Want To Get Closer.” Tim Rackley shines on “God’s Great,” and “Love Them To Jesus,” among others while Doug Roark’s baritone is showcased on “We Hold These Truths.” Overall, this is a fantastic collection of some of the quartet’s best songs of their career. I particularly enjoyed Steve Ladd’s version of “I Of The Storm.” This album also showcases the top notch vocal blend the group has with Ladd at tenor. It is great to hear his incredible voice on these great songs!
