THOUGHTS:

Hailing from Georgia, Jeremy and Rachel Chupp (who sang with her family the Warrens) began their ministry in 2014.This talented and ministry minded husband and wife duo delivers ten great songs with their signature Country Gospel style. Breakthrough is the duo’s first project on Peace Records recently founded by LeFevre Quartet tenor Jeremy Peace.

The album kicks off a traditional version of the Speer Family classic “He Is Mine,” which showcases the duo’s harmonies as Jeremy’s smooth lead/baritone. Jeremy Peace also appears providing a third part. “Heavenly Place,” is a fun, mid-tempo tune that reminds us that if we believe, we’ll soon be going to a place where no pain, fear, or death exists. Next, the duo covers another classic: “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.” This version stays true to the traditional arrangement as well. “I Wanna Be Like That Man,” is fun, bouncy, mid-tempo tune that tells of the healing of the nine and the man who turned back to thank Christ. This song simply says: I want to be like that man. I want to praise the Lord for the change He has made in my life. “I’m Not Praying To My Need,” is a well crafted ballad led by Rachel that reminds us that God has everything under control. When I pray, my focus is on the Father, not the need. The duo’s young son Bryson is featured on “In The Highways,” a fun Country/Bluegrass styled track that simply says: I will be somewhere working for my Lord. Rachel is featured again on the up-tempo track “It Could Have Been Me.” This energy filled track reminds us of the many blessings we have received from the Savior. Rachel steps out for a solo song entitled “Patching It Up,” a beautiful and thoughtful ballad that reminds listeners that: no matter what, God is always there for you. No matter how far you stray, He is there to pick you up again. “Room With A View,” is well crafted ballad that tells of Heaven and the beautiful view we’ll behold. “I’ll see the face of my King. Just one look will do to prove it’s a room with a view.” The album closes with “Waiting For The Master,” a Country styled track with a swinging beat that anticipates the arrival of Christ.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME LISTENING TO THIS DUO AND I MUST SAY I’M IMPRESSED. WHILE THE VOCALS COULD HAVE BEEN A BIT FULLER ON SOME TRACKS, I THOUGHT THE VOCALS WERE STRONG OVERALL. GREAT SONGS, PRODUCTION QUALITY, AND HARMONIES. HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: “ROOM WITH A VIEW,” “HE IS MINE,” “WAITING FOR THE MASTER” AND “PATCHING IT UP.” I LOOK FORWARD TO MORE FROM THIS DUO!
