The Kingdom Heirs are back with an incredible follow up to the popular Something Good record they released when Loren Harris joined them. I have always been a fan of these special recordings featuring the classic songs and this does not disappoint! Something Good Vol. 2 has practically been on repeat since I got it! It features the best of this group: great classic songs, incredible vocals, and stellar musicianship.
The CD opens with the quartet’s cover of the Happy Goodman classic “What A Beautiful Day,” which simply looks forward to the day when Christ comes again. Their version stays true to the original and features the smooth baritone of Loren Harris. Jerry Martin’s incredible range is on full display on this song as well. The fun, up-tempo “It’s Gonna Be A Good Day,” features Arthur Rice and Jeff Chapman trading off verses and simply praises Christ for His Amazing Grace. Dwell on the good because God is control. Next, Jeff Chapman gives a stellar performance on the groovy “That’s How I Know,” written by Sonya Isaacs Yeary and Rebecca Isaacs Bowman, tells of the transforming power of Christ! He gave me love, hope and peace! “Faith gave me something that I can feel and that’s how I know that my God is real!” This song is one of my favorites of the last few years. This is definitely on par with Anthony Davis and Tribute Quartet’s version. Next, the group covers the classic Kingsmen Quartet song “The Lovely Name Of Jesus,” which was written by the legendary Squire Parsons. This powerful song featuring Arthur Rice is the first radio single. It reminds us that the simple mention of the name of Jesus can calm the storms of your life. Jerry Martin is featured on the classic “The Love Of God,” the song made popular by the Gaither Vocal Band. The version stays true to the GVB recording and showcases Martin’s incredible range. Next, Jeff Chapman takes the lead on the Statesmen classic “Something To Shout About,” which the group originally recorded for their tribute to the legendary quartet. Chapman nails the verses once again and breathes new life into the song! Loren Harris is featured once again on the classic Country styled “Run On,” which encourages sinners to turn to Christ. Next, the quartet covers the Cathedrals tune “Thus Saith The Lord,” which reminds us that: God will provide the grace that you need! He is the Word that parted the sea! He is the voice that spoke Greater is He! He can work miracles if you believe! Arthur Rice gives a stellar performance that would make the late Glen Payne proud. The album closes with a classic version of “When We Sing Around The Throne Eternal,” featuring Jeff Chapman and an energetic instrumental version of “Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho.”
THIS ALBUM IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST BUY! THE KINGDOM HEIRS DELIVER YET ANOTHER FANTASTIC ALBUM FEATURING GREAT SONGS AND INCREDIBLE VOCALS. I LOVE WHEN THE GROUP RECORDS ALBUMS OF CLASSICS AND FAVORITES AND THIS ONE IS ONE OF THEIR BEST! EACH MEMBER GETS THEIR CHANCE TO SHINE, BUT THE TIMELESS SONGS AND THE MESSAGE SHINE THE MOST! HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: “THAT’S HOW I KNOW,” “THUS SAITH THE LORD,” AND “THE LOVELY NAME OF JESUS.”
