THOUGHTS:
Prolific Gospel songwriter and performer, Mark Bishop is back with another authentic project. This album features the themes of faith, refuge, struggle and growth. It opens with an inspirational anthem “More Than Enough,” which proclaims the power of Christ’s sacrifice. His Love was more than enough to save us! “I’m In Good Hands,” is a tender hearted mid-tempo tune that reminds us that when we feel alone, God is always with you. We are in good hands. The Kingdom Heirs join Bishop on a fun, quartet style song “Finish Well, Finish Strong, Finish Empty.” This rollicking tune is a declaration that because Christ gave Himself for us, that we will run the race and tell everyone about Him. “He’s Always Been A Friend,” sees a mini Bishops reunion with Mark’s brother Kenneth Bishop joining him. This mid-tempo track tells of Christ’s faithfulness. “God Is Powerful,” is a powerful, upbeat, track complete with backing choir, and affirming lyrics. This anthem proclaims the mighty power of Christ. He does the impossible, loves the unlovable, broke the chains and set me free! The first single is a tender ballad entitled “The Refrigerator Door,” which reminds us that God’s love can be found in the little things in life. He speaks to us in many ways. “What It Comes Down To Is Me,’ is a beautiful mid-tempo track that simply says Christ’s blood flows down from the Cross to me! “Tell Me You Saw Me,” has a bluegrass feel to it and talks about walking with the Savior and being an example. Chris Freeman of the Freemans joins Bishop on the uptempo track “Couldn’t Feel Any Better.” This fun, energy filled number talks about the joy of knowing Jesus. The simple, folky tune, “Fly, Fly Away Little Birdie,” talks about a child growing up and leaving home. “I’m Gonna Wish I Had Worried Less,” reminds us that life is short and that God is with us through the hard times. No need to worry for God has it under control.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
MARK BISHOP DELIVERS A FANTASTIC CD WITH A DIFFERENT LIGHT. THIS ALBUM SHOWCASES BISHOP’S ARTISTRY AND ABILITY TO CONVEY THE TIMELESS MESSAGE OF THE GOSPEL IN SUCH AN AUTHENTIC WAY. GREAT VOCALS, SONGS, AND PRODUCTION QUALITY. THE GUEST VOCALS FROM CHRIS FREEMAN, KENNETH BISHOP, AND THE KINGDOM HEIRS WERE FANTASTIC AS WELL.
4.5 OUT OF 5 STARS!
