THOUGHTS:
Along with the release of Clear Skies, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound has released a special EP from bass vocalist Paul Harkey. Ol' Man River features seven incredible songs that feature Harkey's smooth bass. Harkey takes on several songs that featured previous EHSS bass singers Tim Duncan and Ian Owens including: "There's A God Somewhere," "I Believe," and "Since Jesus Passed By." He also pays tribute to legendary bass singer George Younce with "God Loves To Talk To Little Boys." Harkey's unbelievable range and smooth tones are on full display on this EP. His voice fit the songs perfectly in my opinion. I was especially impressed by his performance on "Since Jesus Passed By" on which his upper register shines. In addition to the new tracks, "Two Coats," and "Scars In The Hands Of Jesus," from Glorious Day and "Ol' Man River," from Inspiration of Broadway are included. Wayne Haun provides background vocals on the newly recorded tracks.
Overall, this is a fantastic EP and a must buy for fans of great bass singing and EHSS. I hope there is more solo offerings to come from one of Southern Gospel Music's best bass vocalists!
5 out of 5 stars!!
