Doug Anderson is back and delivering some Christmas cheer with his brand new album Back Porch Christmas. Anderson, the baritone for Cana's Voice, teams up with 4th & Main, a rising group, on eight inspirational Christmas tunes. Anderson's smooth baritone shines on the swinging title track about the fun, joyous time with family time on Christmas. Next, he delivers a tender version of the classic "I'll Be Home For Christmas." 4th & Main provide impressive harmonies on this track. "Peace On Earth," is a beautiful ballad about the birth of Christ and the Peace that He brings to this broken world. "When I Think Of Bethlehem," is country styled ballad that reflects on the birth of the Savior and His Unending Grace and Love for us. Next, the country flavored mid-tempo tune "If It Wasn't For Christmas" is sure to put a smile on your face reminding you of special Christmas moments. "Christmas In Heaven," is perhaps my favorite track on the album. This beautiful ballad ponders what its like in Heaven at Christmas time for loved ones who have gone Home. Anderson picks up the tempo with the energy filled "Still Makes Me Sing," which praises the Lord and celebrates the only gift we needed. This album closes with another incredible ballad entitled "The Manger And The Cross," which tells of Christ's birth, life, and ultimate sacrifice on the Cross.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
DOUG ANDERSON NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME. HE IS IN MY OPINION ONE OF SOUTHERN GOSPEL MUSIC'S BEST VOCALISTS. GREAT VOCALS, GREAT PRODUCTION QUALITY, AND GREAT SONGS. THIS IS A MUST BUY! I KNOW IT WILL BE ON REPEAT THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON FOR ME AND MY FAMILY! MY ONLY GRIPE WITH IT IS THAT IT IS TOO SHORT! I WOULD'VE LIKED AT LEAST TWO MORE SONGS, BUT I CAN'T COMPLAIN WITH THE EIGHT PRESENTED HERE.
