THOUGHTS:

Jonathan Wilburn still loves to tell the story! This new solo recording from former Gold City and Wilburn & Wilburn lead singer Jonathan Wilburn is a statement of faith and freedom. Wilburn's powerful lead voice shines on this collection of Gospel classics such as "Tell Me The Story Of Jesus," "Peace In The Valley," and "Jesus Paid It All." Wilburn delivers each lyric with conviction and emotion. This is particularly showcased on "Some Things Never Change," which is my favorite track on the CD. This beautiful ballad written by Kevin Wright simply says that though this world is constantly changing, one thing remains the same: Jesus Christ. Another favorite track is Wilburn's take on "I'll Fly Away," which features great backing vocals from Ricky Braddy and Gene McDonald (who hits some impressive low notes). McDonald's bass voice also appears on "Peace In The Valley. " Speaking of background vocals, I must give credit to Amber Nelon Thompson, Angie Primm, and Gayle Mayes for their great supporting vocals.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

OVERALL, THIS CD IS A HIGHLY ENJOYABLE COLLECTION OF CLASSIC GOSPEL SONGS WORTH ADDING TO YOUR COLLECTION. WILBURN'S VOCALS ARE AS IMPRESSIVE AS EVER.
