THOUGHTS:
If you enjoy family harmonies and country style Gospel, then this CD is definitely worth a listen. The Jordan Family Band was formed in 2009 after the passing of Josh Jordan’s father. Josh and his wife Randa along with their three sons, Hutch, Alex and Grant were inspired to start a group by the Inspirations Quartet. Now, this talented family is releasing their first mainline project on Skyland Records featuring strong Gospel songs written by Josh himself along with a few co-writers. As their website says, “The Jordan Family Band represents something that few people witness in today’s gospel music scene: a complete family unit singing, playing, and ministering together.”
The album opens with an inspirational anthem featuring Randa and the kids entitled “Our Time To Shine.” This powerful song encourages believers to spread the Gospel for now is the time to shine His light to all! The mid-tempo tune “I’ve Got You Covered,” features Randa’s beautiful alto and simply says we are covered by the blood of Jesus. His Grace is sufficient. When I should have died in my sin, He said “I’ve got you covered.” “Better Than I Used To Be” is a country styled song that illustrates the saving power of Christ! Josh Jordan delivers the lyric with a smooth country voice and heartfelt emotion. It’s all because of Calvary that I’m better than I used to be! Next, Randa is featured once again on the first single from the project “The Day.” This powerful ballad tells of Christ’s sacrifice and His Resurrection. This is definitely one of my favorite tracks on this recording. Alex Jordan is featured on the mid-tempo country tune “It’s A Big Big World (But I’ve Got A Big Big God).” At 12 years old, young Alex carries the solo well. Randa takes the lead on “My God Is Faithful,” which simply says that though I have failed Him many times, He will never forsake me. He is always faithful! “I Miss Them All,” featuring Josh, tells of daily life in a family growing up too fast and is in the vein of an Alan Jackson song. Randa is featured again on the tender ballad “How Much The More,” which says that God will provide. On His Word you can rely! “Joshua 24:15,” the title track, features Alex and proclaims that nothing else will do but the Lord. Praise His Holy Name!! I’ve have made Him my choice!! Eldest son Hutch (17) is featured on the mid-tempo ballad “Remember The Ember,” which encourages those who have lost their way to remember their passion for Christ. This great album closes with another powerful ballad entitled “Heart Healer,” which features Randa. This song praises Christ for He is the heart healer, the soul saver, and the peace maker. He forgets your past never to be remembered again! His Grace is enough!!! God is your strength!!
FINAL THOUGHTS:
