THOUGHTS:
Christmastime is almost upon us and what better way to usher in this special season than with an incredible Christmas themed record. On her first Christmas recording of her career, Taranda Greene gives listeners the gift of eight stellar performances that showcase her beautiful soaring soprano voice. This recording is also her second on StowTown Records owned by Ernie Haase and Wayne Haun. Greene has experienced great success in her 15 year career and it is only getting better. Not only does she contiue to perform as a soloist, she will soon embark on a new journey as a a part of a trio with Jody McBrayer (Avalon) and former Ernie Haase & Signature Sound baritone Doug Anderson.
Of these eight songs, the standouts, in my opinion, are "Still Still Still/ O Holy Night," "I Wonder As I Wander," "Who Would Imagine A King," and "Jesus What A Wonderful Child." Greene's voice shines on the sacred anthem "O Holy Night" which is one of my personal favorite Christmas songs. The peaceful and tender ballad "Who Would Imagine A King" tells of the ultimate gift: our Savior Jesus Christ. She beautifully delivers the lyrics of this powerful song. Greene picks up the tempo with the swinging rhythmn of "Jesus What A Wonderful A Child." Backed by a choir, this song has a church feel to it and is sure to get listeners on their feet praising the Lord. Lastly, the contemplative "I Wonder As I Wander" looks at the life of Christ and His sacrifice for us. Greene nails the intensity of this song as well as the peacefullness of it.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
GO OUT AND GET THIS INCREDIBLE CD NOW!! TARANDA GREENE IS ONE OF GOSPEL MUSIC'S GREATEST VOCALISTS. My only issue with this CD is that it is shorter than most standard projects (which are usually 10 songs or more). However, these eight songs are fantastic so this is no big deal. This collection of songs will surely put you in the Christmas spirit.
