THOUGHTS:

There is nothing like pure traditional family harmony! That is exactly what you get when listening to the latest mainline effort form the award-winning Collingsworth Family. This talented group is known for their tight harmonies and their top notch quality recordings. More importantly their love for Christ and dedication to spreading His Word through song is evident in all they do. Phil and Kim's ministry together began in 1986 while still in college. Ever since that first performance, they have experienced great success eventually transitioning to full time professional ministry in 2000. At this time their four children (Brooklyn, Phillip, Courtney, and Olivia) joined the group each of whom bring their incredible voices and musical talents to the table.

That Day Is Coming, the group's highly anticipated new release, has a great mix of songs the is sure to bless and please Southern Gospel Music fans. I was blown away by the production quality on this record which is a testament to both producer Wayne Haun as well as the group. Each member of the family shined on this recording. The elder Phil turns in a solid performance on the groovy tune of praise "There's Still Power In The Blood" and blends beautifully with his wife on the tender ballad "Ever Faithful." The latter is one of my personal favorites on this project. The message of the song is simple: Jesus is always faithful. No matter what you are facing, He will be with you.

Matriarch Kim beautifully delivers the lyrics of the powerful ballad "When He Carries Me Away." This incredible anthem addresses our long awaited home going. This is definitely a highlight of the album.

Their son Phillip takes the lead on the uptempo track "What The Bible Says" which is a song that would at home on a EHSS or Legacy Five CD. This fun tune declares belief in Jesus and His miracles. The Word of God is true!! Amen!

The Collingsworth sisters Brooklyn, Courtney, and Olivia shine on their respective features. Courtney's beautiful alto is showcased on the contemplative and thoughtful ballad "He Will Abide." This incredible lyric encourages people to keep the faith and trust in Christ. One line particularly stood out to me: "Life is worth the living with the Savior by your side." What a powerful statement of truth!! Brooklyn takes the lead on another incredible ballad "You're About To Climb" which says "Take a step of faith, It's time to move/lay aside your fears and watch what God will do." This encouraging song is sure to delight audiences. Olivia, the youngest member of the family, whose pure soprano is featured on the tender ballad "Wherever You Are," which also reminds listeners of God's faithfulness. Wherever we go, God is always with us. He already knows what is ahead and His love and grace is sufficient for us.

This stellar album closes with what is sure to be a hit for the group. "Redeemer of The Rain" reminds listeners that Christ brings beauty out of brokeness. "We never walk through trials in vain" as the song says. This song is beautifully crafted and thoughtful.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

This album is a must buy for not only fans of this incredible family but of quality Southern Gospel Music. Each vocalist gives stellar performances and the production and instrumentation are fantastic. Standout tracks include: "What The Bible Says," "Ever Faithful," "He Will Abide," and "Redeemer of The Rain." Also of note is the talented and beautiful lyrics of Rachel McCutcheon, who either co-wrote or wrote 8 of the 13 songs on this incredible album.
