SONGWRITING LEGEND MOSIE LISTER HAS PASSED AWAY
Thomas Mosie Lister passed away this morning at the age of 93. He was born on September 8, 1921 in Cochran, Georgia. Lister was one of the most prolific songwriters in the history of Southern Gospel Music and his songs still live on. This great man of God not only wrote incredible songs; he also sang lead for several groups most notably The Statesmen Quartet for whom he was their original lead in 1948. His songs have stood the test of time and have been recorded by many groups over the years. You can find his memorable songs in most modern hymnals around the nation. In 1953, Lister founded his own publishing company which later merged with Lillenas Publishing.
Mosie Lister's contributions to this style of music are remember this day. He wrote many of the great quartet songs that people have enjoyed over the years such as : "I'm Feelin Mighty Fine," "Happy Rhythm," "Something To Shout About," "Shoutin Ground," "Where No One Stands Alone," "'Til The Storm Passes By" and many more.
