SPOTLIGHT:GROUP HISTORY:THE LEFEVRE QUARTET

SOUTHERN GOSPEL SPOTLIGHT PRESENTS

A SHORT HISTORY OF THE LEFEVRE QUARTET

The LeFevre Quartet (known also for a short time as Priority) was formed in 2005 by Mike LeFevre, a member of one of Gospel music's most celebrated and influential families, The LeFevres. LeFevre had previously made a name for himself as the baritone for Gold City (1989-1992) and Brian Free & Assurance (1993-1997) among others. The original lineup of the group consisted of Stephon Sigmon on tenor, Stacy Bragg singing bass, David Staton at Lead, and Aubrey Stevens on piano and Mike LeFevre singing baritone. This lineup had great success with songs such as "Big Mighty God" which was nominated for a Dove Award in 2009. They were named Horizon Group of the year in 2006 just one year after formation! The group had quickly become a fan favorite and continued to churn out great music! In 2007, the quartet experienced its first personnel change with tenor Stephon Sigmon and pianist Aubrey Stevens both leaving the group. Gus Gaches, a California native, stepped into the tenor position bringing a powerful tenor voice, while Stevens was replaced by a young virtuoso Trey Ivey. Both men now perform together again with Legacy Five. This lineup remained solid recording several more hits until original bass singer Stacy Bragg left the group in 2009. Bragg's bass voice was unique and had a rich cut to it. The bass position was then filled by Keith Inman, the brother of Clayton Inman of Triumphant. Inman and his smooth bass voice would remain with the group until the next year. Gaither Homecoming bass favorite Mike Allen served as a long term fill-in for the next year until young bass Brandon Barry of the Old Paths joined in 2011. Barry's bass voice brought great energy to the group as his rich low notes anchored the sound. Barry's first tenure with the group lasted only a year as well. Anchormen bass singer Paul Harkey joined to fill the void, but he too left the quartet after only six weeks. Harkey then joined Ernie Haase & Signature Sound where he remains today. Randy Byrd, former Blackwood Brothers bass, joined the group following Harkey's departure. Byrd blended well with the group with his smooth bass voice. However, once again there was another change at the bass position with Byrd leaving and Brandon Barry returning. Barry remains with the group today and is still delighting fans across the country with his amazing bass voice. The tenor position has also seen several changes as Gaches left in 2009 to join Legacy Five. Nathaniel Justice, Jeremy Easley, and former Kingsmen tenor Harold Reed would fill the position for the next several years until 2012 when Thomas Nalley joined the quartet. Nalley brings a powerful yet smooth vocal with great finesse. In 2011, longtime lead David Staton left the group and was replaced by Mike's son and third generation LeFevre, Jordan. Ivey also left in 2011 to join Legacy Five and was replaced by Michael Lott in 2013. This group shows no signs of slowing down and continues to spread the Good News through song all across the country. They are serious about their call to minister to the people of the world and show God's love to all people. They strive to do their very best for Him who blesses them. The LeFevre Quartet was nominated in the top five for the 2014 Diamond Awards, with fans voting for them as "Favorite Quartet," "Album of the Year" (But for the Cross), "Song of the Year" (Come and See) and "Favorite Group Website." They continue to achieve great success and have exciting things in store for the future!!
