One thing that is always true of Southern Gospel Music is change! All of the major groups have gone through several personnel changes since they began; and Canton Junction is no exception. Late last year, lead singer Aaron Crabb had left the group to start and pastor Restoring Hope Church with his wife Amanda. Ryan Seaton came to fill in while the group searched for a new vocalist.
Now, Matthew Hagee (Founder/Tenor) has announced the addition of not only Seaton, but Casey Rivers to the award winning quartet. Casey Rivers comes to the group from successful careers in both gospel and country music. He competed on Nashville Star in 2006, and served as lead singer of Beyond The Ashes from 2008-2012. Rivers has joined in the lead position for the group.
Ryan Seaton is no stranger to Southern Gospel as well. He most notably served as lead singer for the Grammy Nominated and Dove Award winning quartet Ernie Haase & Signature Sound from 2003-2009. He recently found success as a solo artist and released two critically acclaimed records, the first of which earned him two Dove Award nominations. Seaton will serve as baritone for Canton Junction replacing the also departing Shane McConnell.
The press release from Turning Point Media. Inc. also mentions that the quartet's highly anticipated new project produced by Garry Jones will be released in August.
I'm quite shocked and excited about this announcement!! I had no idea that Shane McConnell was also leaving the group!! However, the reunion of EH&SS alums Tim Duncan and Ryan Seaton is sure to be amazing.
