THOUGHTS:

Lift His Name has already cemented a place in my top ten albums of the year. Karen Peck & New River deliver yet another incredible album featuring powerful vocals, poignant songs, and stellar musicianship. Six of the nine songs were co-written by Karen herself along with some of Gospel Music’s most beloved songwriters. This album is sure to delight listeners and give them hope in these troubled times!

This stellar recording opens with the powerful anthem “The God I Serve,” which features Karen Peck Gooch and simply praises our almighty God! He is Messiah and King! He is the Master of Heaven and Earth! He is the Hope for the broken! amen! The mid-tempo track “Made Right” reminds us that through Christ, whatever is wrong will be made right! If you need a mountain moved, ask Christ and watch Him work! By the Spirit of the Lord, it’s going to be made right! Lead/Tenor Grant Gibson, the newest member of the group, is featured on “I Know Jesus Lives,” a beautiful song that tells of the Resurrection. I know Jesus lives by His continued miracles! Gibson, formerly of 11th Hour, fits in with the group perfectly adding a great new dynamic. “The Book” is a fun, uptempo groove that features stellar harmonies and simply says: be sure He finds your name in the Book come Judgment Day! “The Love Of Jesus,” features Susan Peck Jackson and reminds us that the Love of Jesus casts out all fears! His perfect Love carries us through suffering and pain! Nothing can separate me from His Love! “Messiah Overcame” is another powerful anthem that proclaims the victory of Christ over death itself! He defeated the grave! All glory and praise to our risen Savior! Kari Gooch is featured on the title track “When I Lift The Name.” This tender, yet powerful track that praises Christ, our healer, provider, and savior! Jesus is the name above all names. Kari has really come into her own as a vocalist since she joined the group five years ago. This song showcases her voice beautifully. “All About Yes,” is a beautiful track penned by Lee Black, Karen Peck Gooch and Tony Wood that simply says: wherever you lead me, I will say yes to the call! It’s all about His Will, not ours. This incredible album closes with a rousing rendition of the Bethel Music tune “Ain’t No Grave,” which reminds us that thanks to Christ, there ain’t no grave that can hold our bodies down!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

LIFT HIS NAME IS WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF THE YEAR SO FAR. STELLAR VOCALS, INCREDIBLE SONGS, MEANINGFUL MESSAGES, AND EXCELLENT MUSICIANSHIP! HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: “THE BOOK,” “AIN’T NO GRAVE,” “WHEN I LIFT THE NAME,” AND “THE GOD I SERVE.”

5 OUT OF 5 STARS!
